from Good Stories) contemplative practice in the morning and
evening, creating a context of mindfulness for deep appreciation;
bears, birds & whales; wonderful vegetarian and fishetarian
meals prepared by Sally Goodwin; a huge bonfire on the beach with
Somemores of distinction; and a brilliant autobiographical presentation
by Akuyoe Graham, backlit by the 10:30 sunset - a sky of yellows,
greens, and oranges and the silhouettes of Mount Ada and the mountains
of Baranoff Island, 40 miles away; kayaking in the peaceful waters
of the Bay, exploring the magical forests, on ground soft with moss,
under branches weighted down by Spanish Moss and tree-growing ferns;
natural bridges carved through granite cliffs; a picnic on a story
beach with blue-flowered china, a wicker picnic basket, and a large
jar of pickles; Qi Gong exercises each morning, humbly offered by
the Halperns on the aft-deck; excellent company, good people to
share silence and conversation with; dreams of ways to share this
joy, this learning, this experience with others - for the benefit
of all beings. The Carmelita and Alaskan waters have been a wonderful
home. Kurt and Peter are gifted guides and teachers and their collective
experience and wisdom have enriched us all.
A
great and memorable experience. We take the Carmelita and the
eagles and the whales back with us to New York and Seattle and
Los Angeles.
